Advancing Horsemanship

This is the next step in your horsemanship education if you have already attended an Introductory
Clinic and a Confidence in the Saddle Clinic. The aim of the weekend is to accelerate your progress both on the ground and in the saddle. Learn how to put on the buttons that you’ll need for move advanced riding, including lateral movements, while learning how to gain more responsiveness to the aids you’ve already taught.  $390 Earlybird Special. Liberty Clinic

24th - 26th October, Riverbank Farm Equine, Otaki

A three
day clinic aimed at both beginners and those that have done liberty with us before. We will be splitting into
two groups, 3 hours each per day, maximum 8 per group, two instructors!
Group 1: For those new to Liberty. Learn how to start building a connection with your horse stronger than any ropes.
Group 2: For those wishing to advance their liberty. Start to take your liberty to new heights.

Green Horse Clinic

21st/22nd November, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

This clinic is aimed at horses who are newly started under saddle (around 100 hours riding time or less, but not "green broke" ie are already walking, trotting, cantering, stopping and turning under saddle). It is a great opportunity to get help from Russell who is an experienced horse development specialist and who regularly starts young horses using natural horsemanship methods. You may need to iron out some problems that have arisen or may just need some guidance on how to continue your young horse's education. Brumby Farm Experience Week

7th - 11th December , Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

Spend a week with your horse at Brumby Farm with Russell and Ruth. Each morning will be a 3 hr group lesson with your own horse and each afternoon you will have the run of the fabulous Brumby Farm facilities to practice what you are learning or you could book a private lesson with Ruth or Russell to really accelerate your progress. You will be able to make use of the obstacles, arena, roundpens and flat grassy playground to ride, play at liberty or on-line, or just chill out with your horse.$800 for the week - includes horse board, camping and lunches.

Arena to Trail Clinic

12th/13th December, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

A great clinic for those wanting to get started with trail riding in a safe and controlled environment. We start in the arena and aim to have the group riding around the Brumby Farm playground and obstacles by the end. It is a great way to get horses used to being in a group and venturing into more open spaces. Using ridden exercises we help horses become comfortable with other horses in front, behind, going past and coming towards them. Confidence with Obstacles

16th/17th January, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

As a Cowboy Challenge judge, and winner of the Equitana Connexion Challenge 2019, Russell can give you some insights as to how to perform better in competition as well as how to use obstacles when developing a green horse, trail riding or just for fun. Whatever your goal, getting your horse confident with obstacles is a great goal.

Horsemanship with Finesse

20th/21st February, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

Are you ready to start riding with contact and finesse, but need some help? Canter with Confidence

27th/28th February, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

We have had lots of people asking if we could run this course.  Do you really want to canter but don't feel confident to try?  Perhaps your horse is green and you haven't tried yet, or your horse bucks going into canter? Over this weekend we will take you through the preparations for cantering on the ground and in the saddle, the aids and position for canter and the exercises that will make it easier for you and your horse. Horsemanship Camp with Cows

10th - 14th March, Brumby Farm, Te Awamutu

Our annual Horsemanship Camp is going to be all about cattle! Working with cattle from your horse gives both of you purpose and requires precision and an understanding of both horsemanship and stockman ship. Spend five days with us at Brumby Farm having fun and developing your skills.
